Getting News of Your Job Seeking and Your Resume “Out There”
October 20th, 2007
After you have put together some sort of network list, your number one priority should be to let as many people know - and as soon as practically possible. As in life everything comes down to practical logistics.
The easiest way to accomplish your objective is using a targeted email and snail list. This will cover the waters so to speak. Be brief and to the point.
The problem you will have no doubt - is that many if not most people are overwhelmed with unwanted information and / or simple disturbances.
The easiest way is so send out the info once. Next follow through with phone calls. Note not to call at the worst times for any industry. For example in the signage business the worst possible times are - Monday , when reports of weekend emergencies have occurred and service needs to be promptly arranged and coordinated , and Fridays - when all the bars and restaurants are clambering for their product and for services for the peak weekend business periods.
Call during off peak times, just to verify that the information was received. In cases where you can notice that the firm is too busy to verify your request or even if your info passed through the email spam filters or the snail mail secretarial screening process. These productive firms are often the leaders in their market - both being the best and the most highly paid organizations that are often the best to work for.
Visit these places personally. You may have to make an appointment. Be professional and not a pest. Otherwise all your efforts will be counterproductive and if anything will not lead to employment and a possible career.
